RISE UP: the 100% courageous t-shirt

Eyes wide open, mouth open, salivation zero.

This was my condition for 2 minutes flat, as soon as Team Zeta (if you don't know who I am click HERE ) talked to me about wanting to create a t-shirt that talked about endometriosis .

When my mouth started moving again I spontaneously asked: "Aurora... but what is endometriosis?"

I preferred to immediately declare my ignorance.

AWARENESS

Aurora explains to me that it is a pathology that affects approximately 1 in 10 women.

In medical terms we talk about endometriosis when the endometrium, a mucosa that normally exclusively lines the uterine cavity, is present outside the uterus.

This causes severe pain, similar to that of menstruation; in many cases it could develop chronically and lead to infertility.

It is a silent and disabling disease that also has very serious effects on the person's morale, everyday life and relationships with others.

The woman experiences the discomfort and difficulty of making it clear that she is not well and the embarrassment in dealing with a delicate and often unknown topic, with the risk that other people will classify you as "weak" for the umpteenth time.

THE ZETA CHALLENGE!

The more Aurora spoke to me, the more her emotion emerged in telling how many women experience this problem, in silence and with great difficulties.

Let's face it: meeting 20-year-olds who want to tackle such a delicate topic with a t-shirt... they're aliens!

Actually no... and this is a giant lesson for all the generations that precede them.

During the presentation I also got excited and understood the value of this incredible challenge.

A challenge suited to the Zeta Project.

"I'm in guys! Let's make it happen!"

THE MISSION OF "RISE UP"

The mission of this t-shirt is to break a taboo : that of talking about a disease through a t-shirt and generating awareness about endometriosis.

Fashion often doesn't touch on such delicate topics; they are uncomfortable, difficult and let's face it... much less commercial topics.

And when it does there's always an underlying heaviness that makes you wear that item once and then hide it in the wardrobe.

The challenge was precisely this: to create a courageous t-shirt that could combine originality, aesthetics and lightness without losing the value of such an important message.

A t-shirt that everyone, regardless of gender, would wear every day, erasing embarrassment and demonstrating awareness.

The result was CRAZY .

THE DETAILS

Every detail is not random and transforms RISE UP into positive, fresh and extremely powerful graphics.

THE GRAPHICS

The flower (main symbol of the graphics) represents delicacy, femininity and beauty.

Its flowering growth is synonymous with life recalling the value of health and fertility.

The embrace of the female body is a symbol of openness and acceptance, removing the discomfort that often arises when talking about and dealing with an illness.

The writing "I'm Aware" is an extraordinary and very important declaration of awareness.

COLORS

The choice of colors takes inspiration from the 60s/70s , a symbolic period of the sexual revolution and the clearance of many sexual taboos.

Colors full of energy, positive and at the same time delicate that recall various genital diseases, such as endometriosis, but distance themselves from the heaviness with which society often deals with them.

THE NAME

The name RISE UP translates to rise or rise.

It summarizes the desire to bring out more awareness about endometriosis, so that it is no longer a silent disease that causes discomfort and shame.

It is a positive, strong, energetic name that invites everyone to action, almost in a revolutionary way.

Because her being so courageous enough to break decades-old taboos is also revolutionary.

THE NEXT STEPS

Now you know why I was speechless when the guys from Team Zeta proposed it to me and presented it to me.

This t-shirt is a big step and we won't stop there.

We want RISE UP to become the tool for change, continuing in our own way and with our own means to communicate and spread a more aware vision of endometriosis.

And continuing to break taboos.
